Najma Ahmed Khalif, the Secretary General of the Somali Communication Workers Union (SOCOWU), is joining women around the globe to commemorate International Women’s Day in a powerful act of solidarity with the women of Palestine.

In a world beset by numerous challenges and crises, the burden often falls heaviest on societies everywhere, especially on the resilient women of Palestine. These women endure the heart-wrenching loss of loved ones, relentless attacks, and a dire scarcity of basic necessities like food, water, and electricity. Yet, amidst these hardships, they hold on to hope.

It is imperative that we stand in unwavering solidarity with them, amplifying their voices and advocating for their rights. In the spirit of fostering international solidarity among unions, HAK-İŞ has chosen to mark this year’s International Women’s Day with the theme “Solidarity with the Women of Palestine” on March 6, 2024, at ATO Congresium in Ankara.

Najma urges everyone to join this vital cause, to be a beacon of support for the courageous women of Palestine, and to reaffirm our commitment to justice, equality, and peace for all.
